Top 5 beaches on Skiathos (in our opinion)

What are the 5 most beautiful beaches on Skiathos?

Paolo’s Favourite beach – Kehria Beach
Giusy’s Favourite beach – Agitros Beach
Ernesto’s Favourite beach – Diamantis Beach
Linda’s Favourite beach – Ligaries Beach
Luca’s Favourite beach – Porto Paradiso – Vromolimos Beach

That’s a tough question to answer—it really depends on your personal preferences and what kind of beach day you’re looking for. A young couple might seek something different from a family with small children.

Plus, with over 60 beaches on the island, narrowing it down is no easy task.

Personally, I have a soft spot for the northern side of Skiathos. It’s wilder, more untouched, and full of character. The southern beaches are beautiful too, but they tend to be busier and more accessible. You can often reach them on foot or by bus, while the northern beaches usually require your own transport—ideally a 4WD or quad.

Let’s dive right in with my personal favourite.

1. KEHRIA BEACH – PAOLO’S FAVOURITE

Location:
North

Travel time from Sky Sea Resort:
15–20 minutes

How to get there:
Car (preferably 4WD) or quad bike

From the first time I set foot on Kehria, I felt a kind of spiritual connection with the place. It’s truly one of a kind.

To get there, you’ll bounce your way down a dirt road—so if you’re on a quad, expect to arrive a little dusty. No worries though, a quick dip in the sea will sort you right out.

On arrival, there’s a charming taverna on the left, tucked under large trees and entirely made of wood, with rustic tables. In the evening, strings of lightbulbs hanging from the trees give it a magical, cozy atmosphere.

To the right, you’ll see umbrellas set up on a grassy area—Kehria is the only beach on the island with that feature. On either end, you’ll find wooden four-poster beach beds—definitely worth trying. The beach itself is split by a large rock topped with a Greek flag, and you’ll find umbrellas on both sides.

There’s even a quirky wooden log that functions as a freshwater shower.

The sea is a stunning green, thanks to the surrounding Mediterranean vegetation. The seabed is pebbly, so if you’re visiting with kids, rubber water shoes might come in handy.

Kehria is perfect if you’re after peace and quiet. The umbrellas are well spaced out, and you can reserve both an umbrella and a table in advance.

One of the beach’s biggest assets is its people—especially the legendary owner, Argiris. He treats the beach as a mission, almost a spiritual calling—his ikigai, as the Japanese say. He’s incredibly friendly and a true master at grilling fresh fish. Every day, he sources the best catch from his trusted fishermen. A fresh grilled fish drizzled with lemon and olive oil, a crisp glass of white wine, and good company—it doesn’t get better.

The sunsets here are spectacular too. One of our guests, Rich, even proposed to his partner Katie here, right at sunset. I highly recommend the sunset dinner experience—it’s unforgettable. Spend the day at the beach and stay on into the evening.

Now to my wife’s favourite beach.

2. AGISTROS BEACH – GIUSY’S FAVOURITE

Agistros is the last in a string of beaches on the northern coast, following Krifi Ammos, Mandraki, and Elias.

To get there, turn right just before Koukounaries. About 300 metres in, take a left for Agia Eleni or a right for Agistros down a scenic dirt road. On one side: lush greenery. On the other: breathtaking sea views. I sometimes run this path at dawn, and trust me—it’s almost a spiritual experience.

You park at the top and take a short walk down to the beach. It’s not steep and totally manageable, even with kids. Be sure to stop for a photo from the cliff—it’s a view you’ll want to remember.

At the beach, there’s a small, newly built bar with a wooden terrace. It used to be a rustic shack run by two older, perpetually cheerful (and slightly tipsy) gentlemen. Their fried anchovies and local wine were legendary.

Now, the place is run by a friendly young team, and the food is still great—try the grilled octopus, Greek salad, and anchovies with a cold beer or a glass of wine.

The beach is sandy, with only a few umbrellas. It’s peaceful and perfect for beach games like paddleball or volleyball. Giusy loves it for the water—on a clear day, it glows with incredible blue hues.

Stay for sunset if you can—the atmosphere is something special.

From the north, let’s head south to my brother’s favourite beach

3. DIAMANTI BEACH – ERNESTO’S FAVOURITE

Diamanti is easily accessible, although parking at the top is limited. The path down isn’t too challenging, but it might be a bit much for some. That said, I’ve always taken my kids and never had an issue.

Once there, you’ll find a cozy little cove with just a few umbrellas—maybe twenty. The taverna is right on the beach, so you can dine with your feet in the sand. Their grilled octopus and mussels are excellent.

My brother Ernesto—nightlife king—loves the small bar up the stairs. He enjoys sipping mojitos, chatting with pretty girls, enjoying the breeze and laid-back music. Honestly, who could blame him?

Like Kehria, it’s best to book umbrellas in advance.

Want a special experience? Arrive early in the morning when it’s completely quiet—some of my favourite swims have happened here, including some ones with our resort manager and friend, Luca.

With my sister Linda, we head back north, to wilder areas, where nature dominates.

4. LIGARIES – LINDA’S FAVOURITE

Ligaries is just next to Kehria, in a beautifully wild part of the island. The road is dirt, as usual for this side.

One big plus here is the parking—you can park right by the beach.

The beach is long with only two rows of umbrellas and lots of open space.

What makes Ligaries special is the abundance of smooth pebbles in the water—perfect for stone balancing, a relaxing, Zen-like activity where you carefully stack stones. It helps you focus on the present moment and teaches you to accept that things can change at any time.

It’s something I love to do: walking through the shallow water, choosing the right stones, creating something delicate, and then letting nature take over—wind, waves, or curious kids might topple your towers. That’s part of the beauty.

Behind the beach, there’s a simple taverna run with love by Matoula and her family. The food is delicious—try the feta-stuffed squid, saganaki cheese, and fries with oregano, washed down with a cold beer.

Like Kehria, this is a great place to stay through sunset. Once, we even spotted dolphins swimming offshore at dusk—pure magic.

We come to an end with our great manager Luca’s choice: back to the SOUTH, abandoning the quietness of the NORTH beaches.

5. PORTO PARADISO – VROMOLIMNOS (LUCA’S FAVOURITE)

This is the party beach.

Porto Paradiso has a lively beach bar, music pumping throughout the day, and DJ sets. The umbrellas are packed a little closer together here.

It’s the kind of place where you sip cocktails, play beach volleyball, and grab a burger for lunch. Parking is close and convenient.

Located on the right side of Vromolimnos beach, it’s also great for watersports—head to the far left side for water skiing, banana boats, canoes, pedal boats, and more.

And if you’re into sea urchins, Vromolimnos is full of them. One must-try activity: rent a kayak, grab a couple of beers and a small knife, collect a few urchins, and enjoy a cliffside aperitivo. What more could you want?

Stay late if you like—the party often goes well into the evening. And if you spot our manager Luca dancing his way through the crowd, do remind him we need him back at the resort 😉

These are just five beaches that reflect our tastes and vibes.

We’d never claim they’re the most beautiful on Skiathos—beauty is subjective.

But try them for yourself, and let us know what you think 😉
